Patrick's First Doctor's Visit

We took Patrick to the doctor when he was 4 days old. We had to set an appointment so soon because he came so early. (Little man was ready to come out and play!) He got weighed...poor little lamb had lost some weight. This is normal for all babies, it was just scary for us because he was already pretty tiny! He dropped down to 5 pounds, 4 ounces. The wonderful lactation consultants helped us out tremendously! We got Patrick eating like a real CHAMP! He had a really hard time suckling and latching on. We've had lots of practice and he's doing much better now.

EA hates this photo because P-nut looks so puny it it. I think it's important to show what he was looking like at 4 days old, and you can see all the progress we've made by looking at future pictures. I think he looks like an angel! Poor thing! We had to go out that day and get some "preemie" sized outfits for him. All of his newborn and 0-3 month clothes were WAY too big!

We were so glad to get a clean bill of health from the doctor. There were 2 other families in the hospital that delivered at 36 weeks the same weekend we had Patrick. We were the ONLY ONES who got to go home that weekend. The other new babies had to stay a while in the NICU. We thank our lucky stars every night. Our little baby bear is "feisty!" (That's what the pediatrician in the hospital kept saying about him!) He was ready to come home and snuggle with Momma and Daddy!
