Ear Tubes and Other Notes...

Last week was tough. Patrick had ear tube surgery on Thursday, the same day he graduated from his Doc Band treatment. We had our first appointment with the ENT the week before last - and that's when we found out the ear tube surgery was a MUST for our poor little monkey. At the time of the appointment, he had yucky fluid sitting in both ears, and he also didn't do very well on the hearing test they provided.

Anyhoo, the surgery happened on Thursday morning. (VERY EARLY....I haven't been up THAT early since Patrick was still waking up for night feedings! 4:30 AM is a TERRIBLE time. TERRIBLE. It should be outlawed!) It went perfectly! It was funny to interact with Patrick while he was on his "happy" juice! The surgery itself was SUPER QUICK. The hardest part of the whole thing was having to see him come OFF the anesthetic. He was a miserable little baby bear for a good hour, all the way home! Once we got home, though, he was a happy camper. He took a 3 hour nap later that morning, and woke up a new man! We graduated from the Doc Band later that afternoon, so by the time Thursday night rolled around, he was REALLY a new man! LOOK OUT LADIES! Here he comes! New ears, and no more AWESOME head gear! YEAH!

Wednesday night, before the surgery, we decided to let Patrick indulge in one of life's true treasures: an Oreo cookie! As you can see...HE LOVED IT!


Patrick has been doing really well since the surgery. I think he has some back teeth coming in now, but he really does seem back to his old, happy self again. Hooray!

We also got him a cool hat and a bathing suit! We are ready for some warm weather! Especially since we are without a Doc Band and his ear situation is under control! The three of us went for a long walk today (as we have been every day of every weekend for the last 3 weekends - yahoo!) and he seemed SO HAPPY! It's funny how the sunglasses and hat don't bother him at all. I guess he got used to things like that because of his Doc Band. :)
